What is a Slipped Disc?

Throughout my career, I have had many patients come in and describe their low back pain, leg pain, sciatica, hip pain, neck pain, and spinal stenosis as being caused by a ‘Slipped Disc”.

Failed Low Back Surgery Syndrome

Approximately half a million low back surgeries are done each year in the United States of America.  Some may wonder why the number is so high especially when you consider that low back surgeries have such poor long term outcomes.

The article Alarming Escalation of Fusion Surgery written in 2016 by Dr. Ron Feise, D.C. states that between 1993 and 2008, spinal fusion surgeries increased by 773.8%. To put this into perspective, that’s only a 15 year time frame.   Continue reading “Failed Low Back Surgery Syndrome”

Why Are My Thumb and First Finger Going Numb?

I used to race motorcycles back in the early 1990’s.  It was a sport called motocross.  I loved it.  It was some of the most fun that I’ve ever had.

It was pure adrenaline.  Imagine jumping 25 feet in the air and having to time the landing just right to pull it off.  Imagine 20 guys racing towards the first turn knowing how important it is to get a quick lead at the beginning of the race.

It was like a stampede of mad cows but instead of 4 legs and a tail, we all had 250 cc engines on 2 wheels.  Those 2 stroke motorcycles were like raging bulls with power that is hard to explain for someone who has never been on one.  It was really something else.

What Causes Sciatica or Leg Pain?

Through the last 15 plus years, many patients have come through my program for the treatment of sciatica or “leg pain”.  Sciatica is the most common form of “radiculopathy” (nerve pain) in the legs.

Still yet, many people don’t know what causes this life altering painful condition.  In this article, I’m going to discuss different symptoms and causes of sciatic pain and also possible treatment options.
